Liverpool - Milner is a done deal

I just don't see how he'll be a regular starter in MF for Liverpool.

Tbh, if it's a done deal then imo Milner shouldn't start or play any part of a game for the rest of the season.

That's the quote from the paper...I doubt it's true.
Another 'insider' trying to destabilise our run in, to help Liverpool's chances of 4th?

As soon as we have 4th spot sealed, anyone not going to feature next season should be binned.
Can't see them implementing this as we still want 2nd. If we are lucky enough to have 2nd spot sealed by the last game of the season, play some kids.

Milner to LOSERPOOL
I believe we should do all we can to keep him because replacing him will cost a fortune. Every club knows we are short of homegrown players and we will get held to ransom. Plus Milner is a good utility player and can cover several positions within the team.

We all feel like that Colin - unfortunately it's out of our hands.

I don't think there's a single City fan who would disagree with you. In fact, I think I'll stick my neck out here and say I doubt there's a fan of ANY team who wouldn't feel the same way. Even Villa fans, provided you could get them to park their bitterness for five minutes...COLIN BELLS SOCKS wrote:I believe we should do all we can to keep him because replacing him will cost a fortune. I wonder if Liverpool not getting in the champs league will alter his train of thought, will he hold out in the hope Arsenal live up to the gossip being bandied around? or does he sign the guaranteed 3 year deal that is supposed to be on the table from city. If yaya ends up leaving & possibly Navas then I am sure that has got to alter his way of thinking unless he has already made up his mind.

Re: Liverpool - Milner is a done deal
The comforting thing, unlike TLMLF and his wanker of an agent, is that Milner made one statement:
"I'll decide at the end of the season"
No comments about other clubs, nothing to back up the media opinions about playing time or 4 year contracts....just that.
For all we know, he may quite easily sign another 3 year contract.

Re: Liverpool - Milner is a done deal
Erm... Didn't they both make a very similar statement last season? When they were looking for a move and they refused to be drawn into any conversation about whether he was staying or going?blueboy wrote:The comforting thing, unlike TLMLF and his wanker of an agent, is that Milner made one statement:

Although to be fair to Jim, the only other thing he's ever said is, "I just want more playing time." Whereas TLF and TWA have said all of these things:
"I would like to play for a big club like PSG"
"He would consider playing in Spain again"
"I will stay at City forever"
"I won't stay where I'm not wanted"
"They never celebrated my Birthday"
"Roberto Carlos got a Bugatti for HIS Birthday"
And of course, the classic:
"Please do not take words that do not come out of MY mouth seriously. Judge my commitment to MCFC by my performances."
Now if Jim had said that last one, I'd have taken it as read he was committed.

Guessing on his track record of 4 years ago, Milner seemed forthright then, so I guess he would have said he wants to leave by now.
I just think it's down to assurances that he'll get plenty of game time. I doubt he wants TLMLF guarantees that he plays every single game - just that he gets enough starting opportunities.
I think with a 3 year deal on the table - with the then possibility of joining NYCFC - a 10-20% pay rise on his current deal - it all makes sense for him to stay and play CL football.
Liverpool:
1- can't offer him that
2- won't play him week in week out
Arsenal:
1- can offer him CL football
2- won't offer him 4 years or the money he's on
3- won't guarantee him a starting place every week
