good job too as we have time to get players off the injured list, comes at the right time. I see Belgium have called up Kompany & pel is not happy. Belgian manager reckons he won't play against Andorra but will probably start on Tuesday against Israel....THe Belgian doctors don't think his injury is too serios. ffs what do they know it is the city medical team who have been treating him this last 4 weeks. Can't City refuse to let him go considering he hasn't played for us since limping out of the Juve game?

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
I won a gold watch because i watched it in a bar in New York with a mate but due to it being on at 10am we missed the first half as we were out getting breakfast. Just as well as when we got there during the half time interval a Loserpool fan and a gooner were happily informing us that it was one each after Newcastle scored first and that they should have had another 2 before City equalised and we were rubbish.
So you can imagine how much i enjoyed the second half with those 2 clowns although they did admit Aguero, is on a different planet and that Silva and KDB are just class acts so i went easy on them a bit

I still don't see how Newcastle should be 3 up before city scored .Ok they missed 2 chances, but we missed 2 before they scored so by the same logic we should have been 2 up. Really was impressed with Mangala again very unlucky with the goal as he intercepted the 1st pass prior to their goal, then later when Otamendi slipped & Mitrovic I think had a run at goal mangala put in a terrific tackle & came away with the ball. Stupid rash tackle at the end of the game earned him a needless booking.the 2 Fernas also deserve praise for their all round contribution.

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
Agree Oz. Thought Mangala was excellent. Otamendi will need a little time, he does the basics right with the ball, but he does tend to let his player drift behind him. Another few months and I think we may have another top class CB.
Zaba will need a few more games to get back up to speed, however, even as good as Sagna has been in defence, Zaba's runs behind their defenders, really does outshine what Sagna offers going forwards (that's not to disparage Sagna's form).
Thought the 2 Ferdy's were excellent, both on and off the ball. They looked really hungry to close down space and on the ball, looked to get forward quicker.
Silva and KDB were simply brilliant.
I think we all know about Aguero...simply, the BEST striker on the planet right now.
I even thought MP bringing on Navas for Sterling was an inspired choice at HT, even if Sterling was carrying an injury. He did really well, but still, apart from the KDB cross, his other crossing wasn't great.

People notice what they want. I noticed Mangala kicking the ball away with the wrong foot which meant he didn't clear it properly. Hit with the correct foot, he'd have kicked it into the stands.

And some just can't get past their pre-conceived ideas.

You don't need any pre-conceived ideas. You just need to open your eyes and have an open mind.

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
I've given Navas stick this and last season, but when he's played well, I've given him his due.
You've said from day one, Mangala is shit. Even when he's had some good games, you've always pointed to a mistake or two, that he made...like no other player makes a mistake.
Seems others on here thought he had a good game.
And as for the goal, if Otamendi had followed his runner instead of letting him run in behind, the cross would never have been made.
Mangala has done well this season - simple as.

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
In my opinion Mangala is developing all the time and is going to be a great prospect for the coming seasons but right now he is still a bit of an unpolished diamond he is not bad but can be a bit frustrating at times.
Having said that he is deffo an upgrade on Lescott and an ageing Demi imo.

When Mango has done a good job I've said so. Maybe you haven't noticed. His debut against Chelsea perhaps?
You've got to remember that, when a mistake leads to a goal, people often remember it.
I'd take Navas above Sterling at the minute because Sterling is just a body stretching the game out for others to do the business.

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
After 5 games, wasn't we all praising Sterling for bringing about a balance to the team?
Granted, he's not been great the last few games, but I think he's been carrying a slight injury, hence his substitution on Saturday at half time.
As for:
I'd take Navas above Sterling at the minute because Sterling is just a body stretching the game out for others to do the business.
What else has Navas done for City, other than exactly that?
I also agree, would like to see KDB on the left - he looked even better coming in from that side.

Re: Newcastle - Live Thread
Navas mostly doesn't bother taking his man on and passes it back to one of our players. Sterling takes his man and generally loses the ball. And then goes and commits a foul (last games anyway).
In the first 5 games, Sterling gave us balance and a threat. The threat created space for other players. So far, most of the time, he's just a threat. He hasn't delivered.
When he is firing, hopefully after the international break, then we will be truly awesome up front.

I still feel sterling takes players out of the game which affords space to players like silva & de bruyne this in turn creates opportunities for aguero, so the balance is right add to that Navas & we have a well balanced set up we also have the option of a hold up forward in Bony who I would love to see get more game time.

Eh, if that was the case he should be on the treatment table and nowhere near the teamblueboy wrote:Granted, he's not been great the last few games, but I think he's been carrying a slight injury, hence his substitution on Saturday at half time.

Didn't he miss a game through a hamstring problem? He was then taken off on Saturday as he felt it tightening. Granted, didn't think he played that well in the first half, so Navas was the obvious option, which switched KDB to the left, mostly, who was simply brilliant.
