Team vs Sunderland Empty Team vs Sunderland

Post by Topdawg Tue Aug 02, 2016 7:46 am

The PL season kicks off in less than 2 weeks time. I don't suppose we'll get more than Sane signed before the game against Sunderland. Even if we manager to get the Stones deal over the line before then, I wouldn't want him playing without much training with the lads.

Maybe we'll get a better idea of who may start after the friendlies this week against St. Johnstone and, probably more importantly, Arsenal.

With several players only returning this week, will they be ready to play in just two weeks time?

Kompany and Gundogan won't be fit so that makes it more difficult to figure out a team.

Here's my first stab at the team:

Hart
Zabba, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Clichy
Yaya, Fernando, Silva
KdB, Aguero, Sane

Hart
Sagna, Yoyo, Otamendi, Clichy
Fernandinho, Fernando
KDB, Silva, Sane or Nolito
Aguero

I think Sagna is back, so may play.

Sagna says he still hasn't got over the Euro final loss. Remembering back to the bomb at the stadium in Paris, he was shite in the next game against the dippers. His shitty excuse was he was still affected by that. He can take a break for me.

I was struggling with my team as people are saying he may play Fernandinho at the back. That messes up my whole team as I wanted him in MF.

I think if Pep was going to play Fernandinho at CB, he would have tried it in the last 2 games. The fact Yoyo got so much game time at CB against Bayern and Dortmund and they only conceded 2 goals, suggests, he may partner Otamendi and Pep will keep Fernandinho at the heart of the MF until Gundogan is fit.

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully, pep will have the balls, and the confidence, to take risks, especially with the kids. Pellegrini stuck by the older players even though some were not performing at the levels required. It will make a refreshing change if Pep goes for it.
