Celtic vs City CL - Live Thread
First topic message reminder :
Big game. I'm sure the atmosphere will be electric, unless we can keep them quiet and score early. I think this will be a far tougher game than Borussia.
2-1 for me to City.

I'd get Sagna on for Zabba and put Stones in
It's almost been Pellegriniesque As soon as a team gets stuck in & gives us no space we become shit like last season
Passing woeful
Hopefully Pep can change things in the 2nd half

Yep, have to agree, Sterling has been decent. Everyone else wouldn't get on Celtic's side.

Looking at the stats, we're dominating possession now. Celtic will tire as the match progresses. Unless they take the lead again and then they'll get energy again.

Dreadful first 20 mins but gradually got back into the game,Celtic looked leggy by the end of the half

Stop talking garbage.....we've won 10 out of 10, we're 2-2 away from home at a place that's difficult to go....with 45 mins still to play.
I'd take Pep every day of the week over Klopp - you now calling out Pep for 45 mins of football FFS?

Re: Celtic vs City CL - Live Thread
I said I prefer Klopp's pressing to Pep's. What's wrong with that? We've been rather poor (for our standards) the last couple of games against Swansea and we're not at the races tonight. remember, this team got battered in Spain not so long ago and they looked like boys against men.blueboy wrote:Topdawg wrote:I'd take Klopp's pressing over Pep's...

Sterling has been terrific after a shaky start by the whole team sometimes i think i'm watching a different game. Celtic have pressed well and that does not make our players all shite. We have been good so far this season but not every team is going to stand off us and let us play. Reality check needed.

I don't mind Otemendi with Stones. I don't mind Kolariv with Stones.
But Otamendi and Kolarov together is asking for trouble.

Against Utd, we ran about 10km more than them. Not long ago, Celtic had run the same as us.

That was poor. So much talk of records by the media.
They wanted it more than us. Far more. We dawdled on the ball. We caved in far too often under pressure. We were a shambles.
Fair play to Sterling. Our one shining light amongst the dross.

Re: Celtic vs City CL - Live Thread
Too many players in MF were terrible with their passing tonight....none more so than Gundogan, thought he was our worse player on the pitch...awful.
Fernandinho had is worse game for 2 years tonight...his passing was terrible.
Silva, non-existent in the final third as was Aguero - you can see why Pep says he needs to improve other than just scoring goals.
Nolito, apart from his goal, should've been off for Sane at some point earlier in the game.
Sterling MOM tonight....was excellent in possession, took his goal brilliantly and set up so many chances, shame not one of our attacking players could be arsed to get to the near post.
Well done Celtic....did fuck all to win it other than run around a lot. Offside goal, own goal and one decent one.....we threw that away and I hope Pep get's stuck into them tonight....because the work rate was there, the passing was nothing short of abysmal though. Get back soon KDB.
Still, let's hope it stops all this over-hyped bollocks the media have been trawling around.
Pep'll be sacked in the morning...maybe we can get Klopp?

Kolorov has played well at CB in previous games but was erratic tonight to say the least.
Celtic deserved a point but City were slow starters and defended poorly at times.

I agree blue, the passing was way off tonight in midfield but in that atmosphere against a team that was hyped and up for it we did well to come back after going behind 3 times but we could and perhaps should have taken all 3 points after some sustained pressure towards the end that saw their keeper make a good save in the 90th minute.

Re: Celtic vs City CL - Live Thread
Just think we took the poor decision making from last week in the final third, into tonight...so many times we were around the edge of their box, but the final ball was as poor as I've seen this season.
Oh, and Chris Sutton is cnut...Jesus, I'd rather listen to camel-lips than that twat.

Kolarov showed his true colours tonight and why he is not a CB. Big error by Pep not playing Stones
This game always had the potential to be a banana skin
Thankfully BMunch didn't get 3 points as that would have been a bad result for us
Oh & well played Sterling Superb !

Onwards and....onwards!!!
Get the players rested, then arse-kicked. Let's see Sane ffs...against Spurs. I'd leave Gundogan on the bench for that game, he was about half an hour behind the play tonight....very poor.
Be interesting what Pep says in a minute.

Re: Celtic vs City CL - Live Thread
Pep was very magnanimous in his interview. He said he was pleased with how we came back from each goal...which, tbf, we've asked how we will do when we go behind - and we came back.
Other than that, he just said that he knew after watching the previous 24 games, how difficult it is to go the Celtic....other than that, nothing much more. He looked relaxed, but I think inside, he may have been disappointed in some of the performances tonight.

I'm thinking Pep will praise us for coming back against a good team in a hostile environment. Let's hope behind closed doors he kicks some arses very very hard indeed.
