The FA and PL....dear oh dear.

City and United both angered by this vote. Does anyone EVER think these things through?

Classic, so we can't buy but the bottom feeding agents can still manufacture moves away for their players. Genius .....

Re: The FA and PL....dear oh dear.
They originally wanted this because players were being touted around after the start of the season....well now you'll have agents touting their players around, even more, after the start of the season.
The bigger clubs players will be told to wait for a bigger offer from Spain, Germany, France etc as they'll have another 3 weeks of their window being open.
As MS said - prices will rocket as clubs panic to get players in before the season starts, as most of them will be away on International duty at the WC or in 2 years, the Euros.

I'd love to know which clubs voted for this. I bet Arsenal is one of them. If they think it's hard to get players now, just wait until this new deadline happens, they'll be fucked.

The five who voted against were Manchester City, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Watford and Swansea City. United’s vote was apparently cast against the wishes of José Mourinho, who said last month that he would “prefer the window to close as soon as possible”.
Burnley abstained....so now you know who voted for it.

Basically every club with no ambition and four clubs afraid of losing their best players, it would seem.

Re: The FA and PL....dear oh dear.
It is ridiculous unless other leagues adopt the same idea.
I can hardly see La Liga giving up the opportunity to snaffle top players. They may even screw the the PL clubs by promising more wages, letting the players burn their bridges with their PL clubs and then paying a lower transfer fee to the selling PL club
If they end up paying £20M less for a players disrupting a PL club after the season has started, they can pay the player an extra £50k per week instead. The player is better off. The agent is better off. The buying club could be better off. The loser? The PL club that could have got the extra £20M if PL clubs could have pushed the auction on further.

It's even worse than that, mate. They could put in a low bid during this three week gap on a player on his last year on contract, get them unsettled, and then scoop them up for bugger all in January. Money lost and half a season gone down the swanny.

Re: The FA and PL....dear oh dear.
But wouldn't our TW open again in January or is it locked down all season?

Yeah, it'd open in January, but how many decent players move mid season?

Re: The FA and PL....dear oh dear.
Isn't there some regulation saying a player in the last six months can move for free, but not to another team in the PL? Or did I just make that up?

They can sign a pre-contract agreement for a move in the summer.
