How long before we don't have to pay over the top for players?
With the news that Manure may be in for Alexis Sanchez, we may have to up our bid over the £30M mark and pay the guy silly wages (£100k per week minimum).
How long will it be before we can compete on an even footing with the current bigger players such as Manure, Real, Barca, Chelsea etc. and not pay over the odds to attract players?
I reckon we need to win the league and do well in the champions league (quarters at least) for a couple of seasons before we can play as equals.

Re: How long before we don't have to pay over the top for players?
I think our paying over the odds for several players over the last few seasons has made us an easy target for greedy selling clubs. with the new FFP rules soon to be effect, we have no choice but to restrict our spending and draw a line, and say "no more taking the piss" to selling clubs.
Sanchez looks good, and I think he's suit us more than Utd, with Silva ( and hopefully Tevez still around) they'd make a formidable Spanish speaking attack force, Silva's guile, Tevez's industry and goalscoring, Sanchez's trickery, speed and industry too, I think they'd be fantastic for us.

I think I'd wet myself if we got him and Tevez stays.
Drooling over Tevez, Silva, Sanchez, Yaya playing together.
The good thing is, and what will make us a better and more feared team, is that opposition can't look at trying to keep one or two players quiet because they are all so good.
I remember Utd when they were on top and you looked at their players and thought, wow, that guy is great. You looked at their midfield and attack and wondered who to try to keep quiet. Beckham, Scholes, Giggs etc. and you had problems.
We look like we are slowly doing the same which would be brilliant.

As long as we look for players in Serie A, they will ask for daft money and with good reason - We offered £80 Million for Kaka and we paid £24Million for Balotelli who no Italian club would touch with a bargepole.
