Come on, why not 10 years?

He gets 6 years in jail (probably serving 3 for good behaviour) after killing someone driving at 53mph (in a zone restricted to 40mph for lorries) 66 seconds after opening a text message. He hit a few cars and crossed the white line.
He didn't even have the guts to plead guilty thereby putting the family through more pain and costing us, the taxpayer, probably many tens of thousands of pounds in court time and costs.
Give people like this the maximum sentence possible.

I've been done twice, driving at 36 and 37 in a 30mph zone....both times, driving awareness course.
However, difference being - he was probably on his phone as a driver and has some serious previous convictions....that should've been taken into consideration and he should have received at least 15 years for manslaughter.

I thought the max he could get was 10 years. That's ridiculous anyway. He knew the major risks and consequence of his actions, yet he was using his phone and speeding in a lorry. They shouldn't have a maximum of ten years for something like this. Negligent manslaughter/homicide and the max sentence could be 20 years.
Make people not want to take the risk.
