City v Huddersfield - Live Thread
First topic message reminder :
Can see a strong team tonight, but got a feeling Bravo will start.
So for me:
Bravo
Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Clichy
Fernandinho
Sterling, KDB, TLMLF, Sane
Aguero

Huddersfield played too open for their own good. Boro won't play that way and they'll play their first team. We'll have Silva back for that though which will only help us.

And this, as much as I hate it, is from a rag contributor....let's not forget, Hart made some absolute clangers in the last few years.......so let's not go overboard on Bravo and Pep.

Fairly routine win in the end
I've not seen a replay of their goal but it looked as soft as usual,he never seems to save anything
Surely we will bring in a top keeper over the summer,it can't help a jittery defence when that fuckwit is behind them

Yeah his passing was good Whoopeedo Against a championship reserve team
His goal keeping was shit He's not a fucking MF player I don't give a shit if he can do a 60 yard pin point pass to Sergios big toe
If he can't save for toffee he's not worth a toss in my book Obviously Pep thinks differently
I didn't even mention Joe Hart. I just said Clownio shouldn't play before Willy again this season. Every game is now a big game
and we can't afford a goalkeeper in those games who can't do the keeping bit

Ok......fair enough Tony. All about opinions....as many have reminded me on in the past. Tried to be objective tonight, rather than rant and rave......clearly not worked.
Probably go back to swearing and ranting again.....

I'd rather have played Angus Gunn in net than Bravo

You don't have to convince me how good a shot stopper Joe is Dawg....
My point with the videos was to show that Hart makes ridiculous errors....and even though he's a better shot stopper, his distribution isn't better than Bravo's...and that's what Pep wants, not a shot stopper first.

It's what you do at sport. It happens in cricket when someone drops a catch or misfields. They get the sarcastic cheers when the ball next comes to them. It's no big deal in all honesty.
If they'd boo'd him, ta would have been out of order.

Not from your own fans Dawg!!!
Can't say I've heard England cricket fans making jibes as an England fielder is about to take a high catch, after missing one.....maybe from the opposition fans.

I don't mean make jibes when he's going for a catch. I mean when he misfields or misses a catch. next time the ball comes to him, and he makes a routine stop, you get the ironic applause. Like last night when he actually made a save (by accident/luck). We even mentioned it on here!

Still don't think it helps...it's not being funny, it's being sarcastic against a City player whilst the game is going on.
If he made another mistake after the jeers, what would those fans say??
Interestingly, just heard Danny Murphy on TS, who was commentating on the game last night, and he said Bravo's kicking was exceptional and some of his passes out from the back were incredible.
Remember David DeGea when he came to United??

Ru havin a laugh Bluey ! Granted his passing was good last nite but he's been shit in nearly every game he's started and wholly responsible for many conceded goals this season including the one last nite that went thru his legs, so to compare him with DdG is ridiculous
Gary Sprake or numerous shit Scottish goalies maybe
Christ he has 1 ok game against a reserve championship team and u wanna have sex with him :D

No, I just don't get all this over-the-top berating of a keeper. Tell you what I'll do, I'll search back to all the posts about Joe Hart last season - and post some of the comments made.
Raheem Sterling anyone???
I'm not saying Bravo is a great keeper - but to jeer him sarcastically, doesn't help the team or the player, especially when it's by your home fans.
I hope Pep goes out and buys a world class keeper in the summer....

He's lucky he's only had sarcastic jeers. Other less tolerant fans would have been bombarding him with insults or chucking stuff at him.

wouldn't have been any good chucking stuff at him tony He would have dropped it but his distribution to the stewards would be ok!!!!!!
I could tolerate him more if the defense around him looked confident but they are on tenterhooks every time the ball is in his vicinity. Whilst his distribution maybe good compared to Joe His shot stopping is abysmal. Surely the first rule of a keeper is to be able to save goals, going in win crosses etc. he does neither. who cares a jot if he can pass the ball!!!!!Joe was with us for what 10 yrs bar the season loan to Birmingham, In that time I could count on both hands the number of times a mistake was made,( and no I am not a Norwich inbred ) Whilst I know there is little or no hope of Joe coming back, I would have him back in an instant if the chance arose. I still think he is up there with the best... I rate him higher than "David the gay " ok it's what his name sounds like not homophobia before someone precious goes off on another tangent!!!!
In short if Bravo can't save shots as his position suggests or deal with crosses surely thats what he is paid for then he should be ousted now. You can hoof the ball away & still recoup possession in a relatively safe area of the field, instead of tippy tappy around our own 18yd line.

A striker plays 10 games and doesn't score a single goal. But he makes lots of successful tippy tally passes to team mates which look nice. Should he be dropped???

Re: City v Huddersfield - Live Thread
Well, like I posted yesterday, there were plenty on here last year wanting Hart dropped for making "far too many routine mistakes".
In short if Bravo can't save shots as his position suggests or deal with crosses surely thats what he is paid for then he should be ousted now.
It's not like a goal is conceded every time a cross is made or a shot is made....let's not go over-the-top. Pep demands a keeper that can play out from the back - it's that simple. He gave Hart a chance to stay and fight for his place and Hart didn't have the fight in him, so declined......
Hart IS NOT COMING BACK.....so why do we keep comparing Bravo to Hart?
We should be comparing Bravo to Willy - and thankfully, Pep seems to have chosen Willy as his No.1 lately.

Re: City v Huddersfield - Live Thread
different scenario dawg the keeper is paid to save shots if a striker misses after 10 games there are other strikers & team mates on the park who could score , who else can stop goal bound shots????
I have said blue that I would take Hart back in an instant, however like I said there is little hope of joe coming back??. I compare Bravo & Hart as he was the last city custodian.... I would have Joe over any keeper currently playing in the premier league, That is my opinion, I rate him very highly. With ref to Bravo & crosses I did not say that every cross leads to a goal what I said was Bravo is shit at crosses.
Not dealing with crosses on a consistent basis leads to possible goal threats & panic in a somewhat shaky defense Not saving shots doesn't always lead to goals put it puts the team under increasing pressure. Tippy tappy from the back is fine if you have confident defenders around to receive the ball. We get closed down early panic & create allsorts of problems for ourselves. I was all for Bravo when he first signed.
After is debut against Uniturd I argued give him time he had only had 1 training session didn't speak the language barely knew his team mates etc etc Now 1 half a season later he is still the same I do not apologise for wanting him gone he is a liability. I hope Willy plays from now till the end of season or Angus. The best thing Bravo can do is leave Manchester by the back door.
The stats for 19 games as opposed to 302 really mean stuff all if Bravo would be as consistent as Joe fair enough also Joe was playing in the season under Eriksson which was 2007 so how come the stats start at 2010? plus 1 full season with Birmingham where he was their player of the year. Yes I think Joe is good but yes I would take a neur or any keeper if they looked the part & gave me confidence, Bravo does not.

Nobody is calling you out Oz....I'm just saying, that 'we' all keep going on about Hart - but he ain't coming back.
I'd rather have Willy as our No.1 until the summer...however, apart from the shot that Bravo let in, I thought he had a decent game and his kicking was excellent.

but the fact remains, even against a championship side, he had 2 shots at him, 1 went under him (even with slight deflection off Zabba), and the other was hit straight at him (saved).
Willy till the end of the season and then we need to replace in closed season (as Hart won't be coming back)

But his kicking started lots of our attacks midweek.....
I think we could go round and round over this. I'm wanting Willy as our No.1, however, I'm not going to go overboard like the media have done over Bravo. If he was so shit, how has he managed to keep 4 clean sheets in the PL?
Willy's played 12 PL games and conceded 1 goal to an error.
Bravo has played 19 PL games and conceded 1 goal to an error.
Bravo played in most of the games during our massive drop in form, when our defence was utter guff, so of course, if we got beat, he is going to conceded goals.

These stats were done in January but as Clownio has hardly played since then they won't have improved
Officially the worst goalkeeper in the PL !!
Let's put this to bed Bluey The stats say he's shit, You know he's shit I know he's shit Eveyone knows he's shit apart from Pep
who hand on heart must also know he's shit (as he's dropped him) but doesn't want to fully back down as it was obviously his big decision.

the official stats show errors..
the "feeling" stats show the shots that should have been saved.. not actual mistakes, but where the goals could have been stopped.
yes, he is good playing it out, but as the other night showed, conceded a soft goal (not an actual error, but it should have been saved).
the Barcelone away fiasco really hammered it home and probably swayed a lot of opinions on him..
Everyone has an opinion.
I think we all agree on one thing though, and that is we will have a new number 1 come next season..

Re: City v Huddersfield - Live Thread
How do you define error? His sending off against Barca? He didn't concede a goal for that error but it sure fucked us up. A shot going under the body or failing to make a routine save. Are those counted as errors?
For all of Joe's errors, he made some unbelievable saves that kept us in games. Big games against Madrid. Saves that had opponents throwing their heads backwards in astonishment.
Maybe we complained about the odd error or poor distribution, but maybe that was also fine to a lack of competition.

Re: City v Huddersfield - Live Thread
I'm not sticking up for Bravo over Willy, or both over Hart.
All I'm saying is that when he contributes to the team like he did the other (what Pep wants him to do), the media just focus on one element, because of those stats you mentioned Tony. The agenda is already written on Bravo, so nothing he does between now and the summer will change peoples/pundits minds.
I'm so glad these fans, pundits and media weren't listened to by Pep when it came to Raheem Sterling, because he was absolutely shite as a player if you listened and read things about him last season - waste of money, overrated, can't pass, can't cross, doesn't score enough goals, lightweight......to name a few.

Those bastard pundits having a go at our Raheem. It's a good job we all believed in him.
It's telling that the club haven't offered Willy a new contract yet and we are in March. His contract runs out in June so that's not far away.
I really think that it will be Willy leaving the club in the summer and not Clownio (is it disrespectful and wrong of me to call him that?). I think Pep will let things simmer down and re-introduce Bravo when he can. But, if he makes a howler on his first serious game, he's a goner and even Pep should be casting him adrift. Harsh, I know, but some things just have to be done.

I think that's a fair assessment Dawg.
I really don't see Pep binning off Bravo and keeping Willy ahead of him. I do hope though, that we spend big on a top class keeper in the summer. As I posted the other day, the article by Martin Samuel, go all out with a £50m bid for Neuer. Test Bayern and Neuer's resolve.....as Neuer has said he would like to work with Pep again.

We should be going all out big billy bollocks for our targets. £100M for Messi. £50M for Neuer. £50M for Sanchez. £40M for Isco. £50apiece for whichever FB or CB Pep wants. Get the deals done early.
