City 4-1 madrid
Bit of a pre season drubbing. Means nothing. Diaz took his goal really well just after coming on.
Sancho missing out on minutes

Re: City 4-1 madrid
Made the mistake of reading some of the Facebook comments first, boy do we have a lot of moronic tourists these days. It's why I love our little club here.
Exactly Dawg it was a practice match means absolutely nothing. The tourists think we won the CL.
I really hope we give these kids a chance this season. Come on Pep take a chance, we don't need Sanchez.

For those that missed it, was full strength in the first half except for Foden. With a back 5.
Ederson,
Walker, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, Stones,
Toure, De Bruyne, Foden,
Aguero, G Jesus

Re: City 4-1 madrid
On some highlights commentary, they said it was 3-5-2. Surprised that Danilo would play as a CB as your team formation suggests SB. How about with Walker and Danilo as wingbacks?

Citywatch backs me up:
"City lined up with a back five, Walker and Danilo wide with Otamendi and Kompany accompanying Stones in the middle."

Re: City 4-1 madrid
I thought Stones was i the centre as Kompany was definitely wide right as he got skinned by Bale and Otamendi was left as he got skinned by someone else out there!
MEN gave lots of 5s and 6s for their ratings with KDB and EDERSON getting 9s.

Yeah I really shouldnt post on less than 5 hours sleep. KDB was excellent from what I read & had assists for the 3 of the goals. Ederson did really well (checkout the extended high lights) but youll notice that he allways punches the ball away & never tries to catch it.

Ederson did well, more palming away than punching, but makes the saves.
the main issue currently is confidence coming off his line and getting mixed up with the defenders.. I think 3 or 4 times today he should have been out or claiming balls more confidently.
Just needs to work with the defence more on this.

Yep, that was the formation I watched Moon.
Thought Danilo looked quick and strong. KDB was sublime and Ederson made two or 3 really good saves. Let's hope that stops the Bravo comparisons in every City article the media posts - somehow I doubt it.
Thought Aguero was a little quiet and Jesus looks rusty, but that'll come.
Shame about Grimshaw at the end - but what a shot, no chance. Was surprised Nasri got another run out. Thought Stones had a really good game as well.
Navas was the MOTM, 2 worldy saves, even though Aguero really should have scored.

Re: City 4-1 madrid
You know, it's amazing how rag supporting papers report on last night matches.
United get beat 1-0 by Barca, we batter the current La Liga and double-European champions 4-1...guess who gets a massive spread of articles, with City's several scrolls down (The Mirror).
In the same paper, 5 things we learnt about Man City last night: 1st: Ederson made amends for a...."nightmare" debut.
Nightmare????? WTF???
No: 5. City have a long long way to go to get the support of a Real Madrid overseas. Huh? The match was played in LA, a hotbed of Spanish speaking football fans. Wonder if it was played in Ontario, there'd be such a massive Real Madrid turnout? Reading some of the comments, one guy wrote this, which I thought was quite interesting:
I was at the match and I saw a lot of City fans there .
Many were from Manchester and a lot were from the USA .
Yes there were more Real Madrid fans at tonight's match . This is possibly because LA has a high percentage of Hispanic people living in and around the city and
Real and Barcelona are by far the most popular clubs among this section of the population .
This dwarves the support for any English club including Liverpool and Man United .
City also had a lot of local support at tonight's match ,from people from a variety of backgrounds .
It is worth noting that
City are growing very fast in international terms .
In fact statistics show that City are among the most watched Premiership teams on US television.
City have gone global .. and the Man Yoo loving British press hate it .

Re: City 4-1 madrid
it was funny when the crowd gave it some jeers and boos when 3 nil up we started knocking it round and keeping the ball..
I know it was a friendly match, but all the same, Real would not have expected to be on the end of a beating.

I also saw a video on Twitter, of Nasri and Khaldoon pitch side, looking to to be having a heated discussion. Wonder what that was all about?

Agree. Obviously its a preseason game, but the confidence that will give the players, including the fringe/academy players, will do us the world of good. Watch us go and get battered by Spurs on Saturday!

I thought the funniest thing I saw having just watched the game was at half time some fan had a cardboard placard up reading Wenger out.....

Friendly or not, 4-1 against Real Madrid is a great result and hopefully it'll give us a real confidence boost leading up to the start of the league. Can you just imagine the shit that would have been spouted if we'd have been stuffed 4-1 anyway.
