Magnificent Defensive Display
Bobby was right going with Zab.
Thought apart from Vinny's usual 8/10 performance...Lescott, Zab and Clichy were immense.
Aguero had an off night in front of goal...otherwise, 3-0 would not have been an unfair result.
Barry and Yaya from deep were superb...Yaya in the advanced role even better.
All round...great, controlling performance...though i thought United were shit tonight all over the park.
Newcastle.....as big a game as tonight...come on City.....MO...MENTUM!!!!!!!!
Loved the spat between Bobby and Taggert....sort of reminded me of Rocky vs Clubber Lang re-match. The underdog showing the Champion....."I ain't scared"....."bring it on"......then Taggert's look of bemusement that somebody would dare go up against him!! Brilliant Bobby...pure brilliance.

Re: Magnificent Defensive Display
Our 2 full backs were utterly brilliant last night blue, the best i've seen them play. Vince and Lescott were as reliable as ever but Fergies negative tactics made their life a whole lot easier.
How people can write Barry off is beyond me, he produced yet another top display imo. Yaya was better again when pushed further up field, still don't know how RM can't see that until the 60min but hey ho.
Silva, Tevez, Aguero and Nasri didn't really do anything of note but always posed a threat when they had the ball in the final 3rd.
Deserving victory overall having controlled most of the game, let's hope we can finish the job off at Newcastle now or this win'll have counted for nothing.

Re: Magnificent Defensive Display
It was obvious with Fergie's selection that he wasn't going to play expansive football when all he needed was a draw, what bollox tho' that it's not the UTD way to play for a draw!!! Even if UTD needed to win, we would have beaten them, as you saw in the 2nd half with Yaya's surging runs, (where he should have played in Sergio for one instead of shooting, hope he doesn't do that at the weekend!) 3-0 would and should have been the result
Fergie parked the bus, his selection was to stifle our creativity, playing like a desperate relegation threatened team, sad.
Newcastle will hopefully be going for a win, they will eave gaps and tire in the 2nd half after playing wednesday, they may be out of the CL race and play like they did V Wigan

United did not come for a win, they came and played not to loose, and they were scared to death of us.Credit to Marriner he ignored the constant whinging and foul mouth of Rooney.
The comments on Fox sports were that Citys players all did a magnificent job, every one deserved MOM, but for my money Pablo Zabaletta was immense.
He really does deserve player of the year for his contributions.
Fergie may have completed 25 years, but he is no match for Bobby,on or off the pitch.

Now I've gave City credit for last nights win but that statment is one of the best I've heard so far on here.
Class.

Re: Magnificent Defensive Display
point one, was bobby a better player on the pitch than fergie? no brainer
point two, is bobby a better man off the pitch than fergie? even die hard rags would struggle to argue otherwise.

so you saw fergie play did you?
As for off the pitch has he not stormed off without shaking other managers hands this season?
As he not said certain players will never play for City again, to be honest I dont mnd him it was city fans who turned on him after you recent bad run, now lording him up to be a better manager than Fergie
We'll see in twenty years.

Re: Magnificent Defensive Display
there you go again RWC, changing what someone said.
the comment was that fergie is no match for bobby on or off the pitch.
did you see fergie play RWC?
as i said, most people, even many rags, will agree that bobby is the better man off the pitch.

you said "no brainer" for point one?
point two I doubt many United fans would say "bobby" is the better man of the pitch, why would they?

Barry love?
Fair play to him, he was superb last night.
The thing I notice with Yaya is that he seems to tire at the 60 minute mark when he plays deep.....but has enough energy to last the game when he is suddenly thrust forward and somebody else like NDJ fills the DFM role. Maybe that's Mancini's plan all along. TBF...for the first time in ages, Yaya made some top tackles in the DFM role.

"Barry love? "
And what's wrong with a bit of Barry love now and again blue?lol
Your point about Yaya's good too, strange how that seems to happen.

Those Arsenal fans must be gutted to see Clichy become the best left back in the league, not to worry for them but they have two crocks instead of him.

He has been superb for the past 5 games...let's hope it was all bedding in time. Nasri starting to get into his stride as well.
They must be gutted.

Re: Magnificent Defensive Display
Can't argue with you. I've seen comments about how he's not fast enough and how having him play on Monday would be a bad idea. How quickly we forget we had him up against Walcott earlier this season and we all forgot he was on the park as Zab had him in his pocket for pretty much the whole game.coolenglishbob wrote:but for my money Pablo Zabaletta was immense.

He definitely deserves some recognition, he never complains or moans to the press, he just gets on with the job and puts in every ounce of effort he can muster. And he even takes a clobbering from time to time and just gets back up again. He definitely has my respect, far more so than some of the lollegaggers we've had, past and present. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Mario!
