Re: The ashes
I fear for Root at opener Paul, think he'll be found out up there. Wtf do we change batters positions just to fill gaps, Root did well in the middle....so leave him there!
England to win the series 2 maybe 3-1.
Enjoy the cricket Pplf

Follows a moving ball too much rather than playing for his off stump for me bringing the slips into play

Re: The ashes
Yeah that was indeed a peach.
Need to get into them straight away this morning and try to establish a 1st innings lead. If Broad bowls and can keep his run rate under 8 for once, we might have a chance.
Can't see England scorin as low again....all being well, it should be set up nicely going into day 3.

Re: The ashes
Shame about the young lad not reaching 100!
What a debut! Hopefully it will show Peiterson and Cooke that the pitch isn't the issue, it's the occasion that has got to the players, now they're in, I hope they go on to post big scores.

Sorry, but I had to laugh when he got out.......great debut for him though.
In all honesty, he should have been out on 6, but for some stupid inept 3rd umpire not being able to do his job properly.

Re: The ashes
don't speak to soon pplf. I still get the feeling England are masters at shooting themselves in the foot. All my colleagues at work today were giving me heaps. it will be fantastic to go in on Monday if we win so I am not going to get to far ahead of myself unlike the majority of the staff at my place. Only 3 English & 1 Irish out of about 100 inc me.

Re: The ashes
Well that was a bit tighter than it should have been. Credit to the Aussie for making a game of it, but at the end of the day it just wasn't enough.
Despite a very poor 1st innings showing we're still 1-0 up, hopefully better performance will come and games will be won more comfortably.....here's hoping anyway.

Re: The ashes
Nearly was good enough Paul. They surpassed 270. Being a city fan of 47 years now I have learnt to never take anything for granted even if it does look a shoe in. Good result though. A lot are really having a dig here at Broad and his gamesmanship & the fact he didn't walk. There have also been a few comments that the review system has been rigged. One Aussie commentator did remind the whinging Aussies that it was their own fault that they had used up their reviews and that apart from Adam Gilchrist name another Aussie who would walk. No one could come up with a name. Just poor losers

You'll never find any cricket on over here. Probably can't find any rounders on over there though.

Re: The ashes
Thankfully I don't have sky, so not glued in front of tv when. Should be doing something far more productive! Like DIY, folio work, applying for jobs, tidying out the shed, gardening, fixing cameras to sell....
I just watch the hi-lights if I can get my hands on the remote, plus the Tour de France is on, so I can settle down to an hour of relaxation with a beer.

Re: The ashes
Sorry, but totally addicted to the ashes, and wish I could spend every day watching, but unfortunately work gets in the way! However, I do pull rank occasionally and insist that the tv is on the cricket during every break and lunchtime.
My treat to myself when I retire is to take young Master Titbumwilly with me to the MCG and indulge ourselves for five days of an ashes test.
Marvellous

Re: The ashes
So addicted TBW that you posted twice - just to make sure that we know you are addicted.... LOL
I listened only for a bit SkyBlueOz - ha ha - the Aussies needed 29 runs when I started - so it wasn't too torturous. As Liverpool were not playing - I had no alternative.....

Re: The ashes
Just 583 for the Aussies to get.......
Hopefully get them all out today, should be a good haul for Swann with this wicket turning, not to mention Anderson being probably the best fast bowler in the world at the moment....

Re: The ashes
I think it's touch and go between Anderson and Steyn as best fast bowler. Good to see the Aussies getting a hiding. Long may this continue.

The only thing that's gonna stop this series being a whitewash is the weather. Next test is up in good ol Manchester, so expect some rain .
Well played England.

shafted means foul play against the poor hard done by Aussies!!! Rooted means exactly that they were well & truly f****d.
