Re: Ashes 5th test
No Jimmy for tomorrow, so he may have bowled his last ball in an Ashes test series.

Re: Ashes 5th test
Can't see the point taking him down under when he's 34 or 35. He'd be 36 or do next time back here and he'd be retired by then.

Good captaincy by Cook bringing Ali on. 2 wickets in 4 overs.

Re: Ashes 5th test
Ali is wank as a spin bowler. Goes at over 5 an over. No pressure. England stuffed up by being arrogant. Should never has put Australia in. It was a batting pitch, Alec Stewart said as much, and he's been at Surrey for about 30 odd years so he should know.

I thought it was a poor decision to bowl first on the best track in the series especially without Anderson

Re: Ashes 5th test
Little harsh. They've won the series already, this game for me was always going to be a draw. The Aussies couldn't be as poor as they have been.
Not sure it would have made any difference, personally.
The pitch isn't great - guess they missed the brief!

Not seen any reason whatsoever not to bat first
Winning becomes a habit and we've thrown away the opportunity to stuff them 4-1

If you look at this way, Eng could now be 417-7. How does that change the game towards the end of day two?

With respect bluey, England should have batted first. No ifs or buts.

I know, you said that already, already, already!
Oh, and Lyth is fucking shite! Let's hope he's given no more opportunities.

England fucked up in the WIndies when lythe and Rashid should have played. They fucked up here by bowling first and sticking with lythe.

64-4......bit of an odd dismissal for Root. Was there a snick?
Guess Stokes and Bairstow will have to knock at least 200 more together, otherwise, Dickie Dawg will be crowing!!

Wouldn't mind, we've lost 6 wickets through shocking shots.

Poor batting, Broad gone now - 92-8.
Oh well, maybe Eng are just giving them a sniff, then bat for 3 days!!

Re: Ashes 5th test
they really are showing its a dead rubber no concentration no motivation. They look like they are going through the motions.Yet here in oz the aussies have been given a right mauling in the media after their last performance. They were determined to give Clarke a send off and quite a few of their players were playing for their test places for the coming series here.

Re: Ashes 5th test
Rashid would have been motivated for this...
Whether he did well or not isn't the issue.
In the UAE, at least one of Finn and Wood won't even play. Two spinners are a minimum. I've heard that Rashid will get some experience in the one dayers....

Rashid wouldn't have made one iota in this test Dawg.

Re: Ashes 5th test
with respect booboy, your knowledge of cricket is less than your knowledge of footy.
The whole point of playing the guy is so that he gets experience before going to the UAE and starting out in tests there.
So, you know Rashid wouldn't have made any difference in this test? I don't rate him that highly myself, but something needs to be done in the spin department.

Half full Guy, bet I played cricket to a higher level than you ever did, however, so taking your analogy with Rashid (The whole point of playing the guy is so that he gets experience before going to the UAE and starting out in tests there,) why was your stance on Denayer vs MDM so pro MDM?
Talk about contradictions!!

Re: Ashes 5th test
hmmm. The Ashes have been won and this is a dead rubber. Haven't you noticed the difference between a dead rubber after the series has been won and an ongoing league campaign???
Well, you don't even know to what level I played cricket. And that isn't even relevant to this debate is it?

Of course it's relevant. You claimed my knowledge of cricket is less than my football knowledge. Cheeky fucker!
I seem to remember in the last test, I said Eng should declare around 400 whilst you said "no, no, they'll bat on and try and score 600+".....they didn't, they declared and put the Aussies back in. Must have been a lucky guess!!

Eng all out for 148. Following on.

Re: Ashes 5th test
Overall, bits of genius when it mattered. Aderson, Broad etc. produced some match winning performances. 3 of the top 4 run scorers were Australian. 4 of the top 5 wicket takers were Australian.
England were massacred twice. If the Aussies hadn't been so arrogant and shite....
Well done...
