According to reports in Spain, Valencia can buy him for £15M when his loan deal is up.

Jesus, that's a heavy loss even by our standards... Who ever thought he was worth £42 million in the first place?

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Maybe the £42m was with appearances, trophies etc...
If he's only worth £15m now, he could've been bought for £25m with add-ons.

Think you meant to leave off that "M", as £15 is much nearer the mark

Sterling still has a lot to prove. 3-4 games doesn't make him brilliant.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Nor does it make him a shit buy!
Pep clearly thinks he's got what it takes.
Pellegrini and the team last season, played slow build up football. This season, now we've speeded up our play, Sterling looks the player he was at LFC.
Give the kid a break FFS! He's 21...what next, Sane doesn't set the PL alight in his first 10 games, will he be shit?

I guess we all have differing opinions about Sterling and that's fine....personally blue, I don't think he'll ever prove to be any good in a City shirt, just a poorer and more frustrating version of Sweep.
That said, I really hope he proves me wrong.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
I'm basing my view on what Sterling has done over the last two seasons and that's been a bang average return. He's started the season well enough, but he really has to keep it at this level for the rest of the season to show that he's back to his level at LFC three seasons back and that is his level.

then give him a chance then....if he's shit this season, I'll happily admit he's been poor.

He's been poor for 2 seasons already...but I always give him a chance.
I wanted Mango to succeed as well with City but he just wasn't good enough.

Huh? Which 2 seasons are they? Are you saying he's been shit this season? He's nominated for the Barclays POTM award....
Are you going to give Gundogan a chance? He's been shit for the past 2 seasons - through being constantly injured. How long does he get?
Sane - cost us £7m less than we paid for Sterling and we know Sterling can do it in the PL. How long do we give him, at 20 yrs of age? What will be his target this year for his price and age - 15 goals, 10 assists? If he doesn't get that, will he be a failure?
Really.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Go back and have a look at what Gundogan has done over the last two seasons. A half decent review would tell you that he's still been pretty good.
Last season he played 40 games for Dortmund in league, cups and Europe. The season before he played 33 games for Dortmund after a serious injury the previous year.
I'd hardly call that constantly injured.
Really.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
I was being sarcastic about Gundogan...that's all you ever hear - "he's a crock, always injured"....but on the other hand, he's never played in the PL, so how long does he get?
Granted, he cost less than Sterling and I personally think he'll be excellent.
However, Sane at £37m?? If he was English, he'd have been £50m+. How long will you give him?
So, explain how Sterling's been shit this season....because if he has, I'll happily take that for the next 35 PL games.

Who said he's been shit this season? Not me. I said he's not been good enough the last two seasons.
I'll give Gundongan plenty if time as he's shown his quality over a few seasons. Sane needs a couple of seasons to show his worth.

patience boys that is what is needed. I admit mangala should have been afforded more time to play in a stable defence instead of being rotated every other week. Sterling was just not played right last season I have documented precisely why on numerous occasions & have been hugely impressed not just by his performances but his whole attitude. Bravo is the one who is on a hiding to nothing given the feeling amongst most City fans for Joe.

Totally agree Oz....Bravo better be fucking brilliant, because if not, Pep will hear about around the ground. "Joe Hart, there's only one Joe Hart".......that's why I'm glad he's on loan and not sold, as Bravo, I'm not sold on, whatsoever. Too small, not a great shot stopper....and I guarantee you, Jose will ask for big balls to be played into our area, with Fellaini and the big-nosed cock there.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Sterling had one 'sterling' season at Liverpool then was crap the next for them. He was reasonable at the start of last season for us but dropped off. So much so, I would have had Navas ahead of him...

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Jesus Navas Stats
Age: 30
Price: £15m
Games: 99
Goals: 8
Goals Per Game: 0.06
Raheem Sterling Stats
Age: 21
Price: £44m
Games: 41
Goals: 13
Goals Per Game: 0.20
We've got another 10 years plus out of Sterling.
Seems Pep knows who the better player is.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Sterling suffered the second season for Liverpool I believe for a number of reasons, the main one being the sale of Suarez coupled with the long term injury to Sturridge, all 3 in that sss attack the previous season looked razor sharp. Suddenly Sterling aged 19 & just 1 full season behind him is asked to lead the line with the likes of Balotelli & lambert as his partners? Surely anyone can see why this did not work & his form suffered as a consequence. Sterling still has a lot to learn but use him correctly & we have a very talented young player on our books.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
I'm talking last season. Sterling's form dropped off so badly that I would have taken Navas over him to start. And I really don't like Navas.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
Yeah, but pretty much all of the players form dropped. KDB had a bad patch and got injured, Aguero got injured, so did Silva, Vinny....we had Bony playing!!
Jesus, when you think of it, we did well to finish 4th and get to the semi's of the CL.

Re: How much is Mangala really worth?
I'd play an out of form, zero confidence Sterling before Navas anyday. 8 goals in 99 games for a so called 'forward' is just pathetic. I seriously think I could have scored more in that time
