To be honest before this story first broke about 2 weeks ago i must admit that i had never heard of the guy either.

we were linked with him during the last season of Mancini & his name re surfaced last season. I did not realize we were in for him again. My computer wont let me get past opening the link of he daily star, then the computer freezes & closes the tab. So can't read anymore. Utd heavily linked with him so I guess he will end up there unless demi & zabba have had more of a word than Rojo.

MANCHESTER UNITED are battling local rivals City for Nicolas Otamendi after both clubs held talks with super-agent Jorge Mendes at the weekend.

United and City chiefs met with Mendes in Portuguese city Porto on Saturday to discuss the Valencia defender, 27, and are now set to submit bids this week, according to Spanish paper SuperDeporte.

The Valencia-based paper claims Mendes, who has been tasked to push through a transfer, will hold further discussions in the coming days.

Otamendi has a £35m release clause but neither side is currently prepared to pay it in full.

But he can expect to earn £2.8m per season with both clubs prepared to meet his wage demands.

Despite United's interest, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos remains Louis van Gaal's first-choice defensive target.

Otamendi returns to pre-season training this week following his summer jaunt at the Copa America with Argentina but reports he is set to go on strike are false.

Paris St-Germain and Real have also been linked with moves for Otamendi.

Speculation over his future intensified after he was left out of Valencia's kit launch.
