Otamendi in Manchester

Talk of a €40M deal. That's about £28M which is about £5M more than Valencia owe us for Negredo. FFS sake, I'm no sure we need him over other positions (LB and 3rd/4th choice striker) and the money is too high. Since we are doing this to 'get out money' we shouldn't pay them a single penny more for him than they owe us for Negredo.

We should get the money.  A player is all well and good, but that ends up costing us in wages.  The money won't.

Take 'em to court for it.

Manchester City are refusing to respond to reports of a deal with Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne being close and suggestions that talks are planned with Nicolas Otamendi.
The club's policy is to put right inaccuracies but otherwise stay silent.
The one 'inaccuracy' in this instance is that defender Eliaquim Mangala would be part of any deal with Valencia for Otamendi. He would not.

Kept saying last season all mangala needs is to settle & a run of games. At 23 he has a lot of potential to be a real top class centre back.

so is Mangala staying? I hope so he is forming solid partnership in the back.I dont think we need another centre back with dimechelis and denayer.

I agree atlblue. With Mangala and Kompay first choice we have good backup with the experienced MDM and the promising kid, Denayer.

Mangala is going nowhere. Te risk is that Denayer goes out on loan. That's a bad message to send all the kids. Denayer signed a new long contract as he was led to believe he'd have a fighting chance of playing games.

Being 5th choice CB means that won't happen and they are more than likely to loan him out again.

I think regardless of whether Otamendi signs or not, Denayer will be given plenty of chances in the cup competitions.

Celtic is one thing, playing PL games is something else.

I can see DeM being used more as a CDMF player over the season. I'd be more worried about Mangala being dropped for Otamendi, especially after his great start.
