City need more English players

Clubs are allowed only 17 non home grown players in their squad of 25. So far, most of our English players are just makeweights (Wright, Lescott, Richards, Rodwell, Milner) and we have Nasty who doesn't currently count due to his age. When Nasty turns 21 this month, he'll count as one of 16 foreign players in the squad, leaving just one spot available for a non HG or youth player. Gael Clichy and Boyata count as HG too due to the age when they started in this country.

Unless we get rid of non HG players, we can't replace with non HG players. 

Either we go down this route or we have to start buying players that count as home grown. This, for me, should be another reason we should be chasing hard to get Luke Shaw and maybe even Adam Lallana as well.

Any kids that we promote (such as Lopes, Huws etc.) don't count at all as they will be youth players.

Based on the above, I can see some potential issues if we lose Micah in the summer (as rumoured) as well as Lescott and Rodwell. I'm hoping, and expecting, Milner to stay. There's talk of Clichy moving to Monaco (and he's not looked good enough this season anyway).

I'm really scratching my head to see what City could do in the transfer windown shackled by these rules.

Totally agree with the Shaw and Lallana sentiment. They fit the bill perfectly for me, young and with Premiership experience.
Would hate to see either of them at the theatre of shite.
